“Welcome forward!” said SBE Dean Philip Vergauwen. “We are glad to have you back in Maastricht but we welcome you forward. Just like the strategy of Maastricht University School of Business and Economics we encourage “forward thinking”. Innovate, be creative, perhaps with a bit of a rebellious spirit!”
Dean Philip Vergauwen says “welcome forward” to alumna Annemarie Delahaye
This year’s annual alumni reunion focused on the alumni who graduated in 1989, 1999 and 2009. There were many alumni present who graduated in 2009 thanks to the dedication of fellow classmate Wiebke Riess who spread the news of the alumni reunion via her network and social media channels.
Joost Kadijk (UM alumnus 1995) inspired us with a lecture on creativity. Joost taught us to think positive and look at new ideas in terms of ” ‘Yes, and…’ possibilities instead of ‘Yes, but…’ idea killers”.
Joost talked about sterotypes and had the SBE alumni shuffle places in the Aula and meet their new “fashion twin”.
It was Sven Grunwald’s first time back in Maastricht since his graduation in 2009. “I went places,” he said pointing to the UM alumni slogan. “First Germany, then China, the UK and now I’m back. The SBE Alumni Day is the perfect opportunity to return to Maastricht after five years.”
Part of the strategy of the SBE alumni policy is to provide alumni with life-long learning opportunities.
Dr. Elisabeth (Lisa) Bruggen (SBE alumna 2001, PhD 2005) shared her research in an interactive workshop on Customer Value Proposition. Dr. Bruggen is a service innovation expert at the Service Science Factory.
Dr. Wynand Bowedes, Director of Maastricht Centre for Entrepreneurship (MC4E) provided the alumni with an introduction to creative entrepreneurship.
Indeed it was sunshine and smiles as SBE alumni reminisced, networked and “looked forward” towards the future during the relaxing times of the day: the BBQ lunch and the wine tasting event by Vojacek wines.
