The winners of ICC@M2013 (the international case competition organised by SBE in April 2013) were invited back to Maastricht to share their ideas and recommendations regarding the final case: how can Maastricht win the bid for the title of European Capital of Culture in 2018?
The Municipality of Maastricht and the Maastricht Capital of Culture 2018 Foundation were highly impressed with the ideas presented by the team of BSc students from the University of Porto during ICC@M2013 and invited them back to Maastricht for a weekend of brainstorming sessions.
The young and talented Portuguese youngsters met with Guido Wevers, Artistic Director of Maastricht’s 2018 campaign, to further discuss the team’s proposals and recommendations. Subsequently the team met with Culture alderman Jacques Costongs to discuss the governance proposals that the team made during ICC@M to strengthen the Maastricht candidacy. On Sunday the team participated in a public event hosted by Guido Wevers at Centre Céramique and debated with politicians and other stakeholders on the Maastricht campaign.
The collaboration between university, international partners, municipality and foundation showed a good example of the added value that the connection of multiple knowledge networks can bring to the city of Maastricht.
