For the fourth time in a row, Maastricht University School of Business and Economics hosted the international case competition for business school students (ICC@M). This event aims to enhance the knowledge exchange between SBE and its partners (businesses and institutions). Next to the competition, several corporate events were organized (in cooperation with Canon-Océ, DSM, Visa and ABN-AMRO Dialogues Incubator). By organizing these events, SBE intends to be relevant for its business partners.
For the final and biggest challenge in the case competition, the 16 student teams got 24hrs. to work on their advice for the client, in this case the candidacy of Maastricht for the title Cultural Capital of Europe 2018. Friday afternoon, April 26 2013 the 4 best performing teams (Queen’s University, Simon Fraser University, University of Florida and University of Porto) were to present their plans to the judges, after which the winning team of Porto was honored during the dinner on Friday evening.
The Municipality of Maastricht and the Maastricht Capital of Culture 2018 Foundation were highly elated with the results and the numerous advices and will take them along when formulating the final bid book. The collaboration between municipality, university and foundation is a good example of added value due to the connection of multiple knowledge networks present in this city.
