SBE visiting researchers Devrim Dumludag and Ozge Gokdemir are studying the happiness of Turkish immigrants in the Netherlands.

Although the Netherlands is one of the happiest countries in the World, Turkish immigrants are the least happy group in the Netherlands.

The issue becomes much interesting as economic theory argues that economic well-being brings happiness as well. Certainly this is not the case for Turkish immigrants which are doing good in economic terms.

Why are Turkish immigrants the least happy minority group in the Netherlands?

Dumludag and Gokdemir have submitted their study for the Bessensap competition organized by The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). NWO is the national research council in the Netherlands and has a budget of more than 500 million euros per year. NWO funds the research of more than 5000 scientists.

Thank you for supporting Devrim Dumludag and Ozge Gokdemir by “liking” their video film!
