The Supervisory Board of Maastricht University (UM) has extended the appointment of Prof. Dr Martin Paul as President of the Executive Board until May 2019. The earlier appointment of professor Paul was until May 2015.
The Supervisory Board wishes to insure consistency in UM’s leadership in the development of Maastricht University that also is one of the founding partners in the larger regional projects such as the Chemelot Campus in Sittard-Geleen, the Maastricht Health Campus in Maastricht-Randwijck and Greenport Venlo.
“We have a great deal of trust in Martin Paul as President of the Executive Board. Thus we took an early decision in consultation with Prof. Dr Paul, and extended his appointment to the maximum of eight years”, says the Chairman of the Supervisory Board Ad Veenhof. The decision was made in coordination with the Management Team of Maastricht University and the chair and the presidium of the University Council.
Prof. Dr Paul feels honoured by the confidence of the Supervisory Board. “Stability in governance is important for Maastricht University, especially because of our ambitious strategic programme.”
