Gerard Pfann, professor in Econometrics of Markets and Organisations at the faculty of Business and Economics, has been appointed Associate Member at Nuffield College of the University of Oxford. This appointment sees Pfann join a select company of internationally renowned top researchers in the field of economics. Rick van der Ploeg, former State Minister of Education, Culture and Science and currently professor in Economics at the University of Amsterdam and Oxford, was a previous recipient of this honour.
Professor Pfann has been with the faculty Business and Economics since 1996. His research focuses on empirical econometrics applied to employment, investments, human resources, industrial organisation and government policy. He is also the founder of the Journal of Empirical Finance (Elsevier) and Editor-in-Chief of the European Economic Review (Elsevier). He received numerous prestigious awards for his scientific achievements from organisations such as The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO).
